Fix Windows Update errors by using the DISM or System Update Readiness tool

At an elevated command prompt (command prompt as administrator) – type 
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

What should you try first? – Try the PowerShell post we made on an earlier date to check for updates.

Open PowerShell as an Administrator

Type the following-

Install-Module PSWinodwsUpdate
Get-WindowsUpdate
Install-WindowsUpdate

PSUpdate
