DotNet 3.5 failed or won’t install Server 2012

If DotNet 3.5 won’t install or fails to install on Server 2012 (Under Features), there is a work around.

You may see this when installing –


Cancel the installation

Insert your Windows DVD and open PowerShell –

  • Type the following command and replace ‘d’ with your drive letter of your DVD/CD
    • DISM /Online /Disable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /Source:d:\sources\sxs
  • Reboot
  • Type the following command in PowerShell
    • DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /Source:d:\sources\sxs

DotNet should now be installed properly.
