When you add drives and other devices to your computer, it is good to have areas indexed so that finding files is easier.
Here’s how to re-index a drive –
Make sure your drive has indexing checked. You can go to This-PC (or My Computer), double click, right click the drive and make sure it has indexing checked.
Next go to the Control Panel and click on Indexing Options
Click on Advanced
Click on Rebuild
This will take some time to rebuild your index.
This increased a client’s drive from 600+ files to over 83,000+ files.
You can continue using your computer during this time. The search time and accuracy will improve after a few minutes.
