Reset and Fix Windows Updates

The following commands help to reset Windows Update History along with resetting and re-registering components.  Open an elevated command prompt and type (or copy and paste) the following (in italics)-

rmdir %windir%\softwaredistribution /s /q

Also install this patch –


Here’s another tip – Stop Windows Update Service and Delete the contents of SoftwareDistribution under windows.  Restart the Windows Update Service
