Need to get the latest firmware and drivers for the Microsoft Surface series? Here’s the link on where to get the drivers and firmware and how to install them through PowerShell.
While the Surface will get its drivers and firmware through updates, you may need to put the drivers on in order to get the updates. An example of this was my Surface would not connect to our wireless unless I put in a static IP address. The surface needed an update for the wireless controller.
I downloaded the drivers to a folder on the main drive of a desktop and copied them into a folder on the Surface. I found the wireless driver and manually installed it. Once I installed it, I was able to connect to get updates. To go ahead and install the drivers, I followed the blog link on Microsoft and then I wrote the PowerShell script and placed it in the folder with the drivers.
Note: Microsoft does push these drivers and firmware through updates.
