Have you protected your Wi-Fi? Turned on your firewall? Got your Updates? If you answered yes, that’s good. But did you know that someone may be able to steal your last print jobs? Of course this depends on your printer. Some printers hold the last print jobs and the jobs can be printed remotely.
If you’ve installed a network printer on your network at home or in your business, did you change the default password or set a password? While you may have associated the printer to your router, many printers offer an Ad-Hoc connection if they are wireless. This allows a connection to the printer wirelessly. With the default password for the printer (which often gives out what kind of printer is broadcasting) a connection can often be made by using this password.
What should you do? With Wireless printers, your printer will broadcast wirelessly well outside of your apartment or property line. Use the setup software and set or change passwords for Adhoc connections or internet connections to the printer. Make sure you set passwords.
