Is your network connections folder empty?

First check the device manager.  Load the drivers if necessary.  You may see Ethernet Controller with an exclamation mark on it or a red X.   Find the drivers disk or download the driver and load the driver.

No problems in the device manager?

Uninstall and reinstall the drivers.  Reboot.

Check all of the network services under services.msc  (Default services on Windows 7 can be found here – you may need to check all of the services)

No luck?

Go to a command prompt as an administrator.

Type –

regsvr32 netshell.dll
regsvr32 netcfgx.dll
regsvr32 netman.dll


Still not there?  Try this.

  1. Click Start , click Run , type regedit , and then press ENTER.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
