Windows Store not working – Windows Store has X on applications

Here’s a quick fix for the Windows 8/Windows 8.1 store.  After experiencing an X on some of the applications and having errors running applications, Mickey found this fix that will fix the windows store.  He originally noticed this after upgrading Windows.

Open a CMD prompt as an Administrator

Next type the following –

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml

Hit Enter

Next type the following-

start “” “ms-windows-store:”

Hit Enter
