Old articles on memory scraping malware. What is memory scraping?

IT security analyst often predict or see trends happening across the web…here’s two articles from three years ago on memory scraping.  Memory scraping involves information being loaded into memory and being removed and stolen by malware.  Often the information may be encrypted and even though it is unloaded, what remains may be stolen.  The SANS institute in 2011 flagged this as one of the most dangerous malware threats.

Are point of sale systems and other systems being targeted.  Absolutely.
