Internet Explorer hangs when clicking links

The number one problem that cause IE problems can be related to add-ons.   Other causes  include toolbars or a virus.  An often overlooked problem can be Protected Mode.  Unchecking IE’s Protected Mode on a virus free computer can correct hangs in IE. (Found under the security table under Internet Options and the Security Tab.


Protected Mode is designed to protect you against malicious software.Many users still report this (hangs and hesitations) as a problem although their computer is virus free, IE has been reset  and appropriate files (dll’s and others) have been re-registered.

There are reports this is a Flash related issue.  You can try uninstalling and re-installing Flash.
