When installing some software in windows operating system (Xp, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows server) we are getting the below error.

“Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and it is writable.”

The problem may be due to %TEMP%

In my user account the %TEMP% is unavailable and is restricting some software like Vmware VSphere (VMware-viclient-all-5.5.0-1281650) to be installed.

I was getting the installation error ‘Error Opening Installation Log File . Verify that the specified log file location exists and it is writable’

When i created New USER ACCOUNT the software Vmware VSphere (VMware-viclient-all-5.5.0-1281650) installed successfully in New USER ACCOUNT of the same PC .

For every user account the temp folder path is C:\Users\USER ACCOUNT NAME\AppData\Local\Temp
is the defaullt location for %TEMP%

If the folder (C:\Users\USER ACCOUNT NAME\AppData\Local\Temp) does not exist, create Temp folder.

If the folder is locked by other programs, close all applications and delete contents of the folder (C:\Users\USER ACCOUNT NAME\AppData\Local\Temp) and do Disk Cleanup ( type: cleanmgr in Run prompt and delete temporary files )

This may solve some software installation problems.
