Slipstream Windows 7 SP1

with one comment

What is slipstreaming?  If you have your original copy of Windows 7, you can download the full Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and then take the two and make a new DVD that has SP1 integrated into it.   This will save you a ton of time during any install or re-installation.

Here’s a good article on how to do this – link

Free Defrag Programs

leave a comment »

Recently I heard you don’t have to defrag your computer.  Amazingly I can’t believe the thought process behind this.  As your computer is running applications, using the internet or using multimedia such as pictures and video, it will become fragmented.  Because hard drives copy and split files as necessary, the file has to be read by a physical device (the heads – assuming it is not a SSD) causing a delay in processing the file.  Regardless of how fast a drive is, these access times add up as your computer is access them.

Defrag Programs

IOBit Smart Defrag 2.0

Auslogics Disk Defrag

GlarySoft Disk SpeedUP

Pirriform Defraggler

J K Defrag

SpeeDefrag

Special Defragmentation programs

Contig
(Defrags individual files or can be used with Power Defragmenter to defrag an entire drive – Power Defragmenter creates a GUI interface for Contig)

PageDefrag
(Defrags your pagefile or registry files)
