IP Locator is a neat little program that requires a two part installation.   The program takes IP addresses and gives you the information and location about the address.   The program itself uses a map database that you download to its installation folder.

Ever have problems with a printer job you just can’t get rid of?  Sometimes rebooting the computer, starting and stopping the print spooler service and turning the printer on and off can be maddening.   FantasticFreeware has a nice program that can be ran to get rid of stalled print jobs.   Link

Note:  You should right click on the installed program and select properties, compatibility and Run as Administrator should be checked for Windows 7.

Startup Manager and MsConfig

leave a comment »

Microsoft’s MSConfig is run in the ‘run’ or ‘search’ line.   Allowing the configuration of start-up items including services and more advanced settings, Microsoft’s MSConfig is a good tool for users to edit start-up services and programs.    A compliment to this built in program is the freeware program Startup Manager.   With Startup Manager, you can elect to add or take away programs, put them in order and even write batch files for these items.   Startup Manager gives you better control than MSConfig but can be used with MSConfig to give you total control of your startup programs.

How about Windows Trigger Start Services?   Services are programs that run regardless of the user.  But what is Triggers?  Good Tutorial.
