Microsoft’s SteadyState retiring in 2011
One of the best programs that is out there for schools, libraries, and even homes is Microsoft’s SteadyState. SteadyState allowed a computer to remain the same when rebooted, preventing changes to the operating system. You can download this software until December 2010. After this time, Microsoft will slowly be retiring this program. Great program to have in an environment where you need computer protection. Link

Steve,
Wonder why they are retiring something like this? Does Microsoft have something in the works to put a PC in a virtualized state? Other options out there, I know of, are Time Freeze, Returnil and Shadow Defender. Of the three I love Shadow Defender; however, the developer of Shadow Defender has disappeared from the face of the earth.
Thanks for the heads-up on this…

You are absolutely right Rick. Usually when Microsoft retires a program, they have something waiting in the shadows. It’ll be interesting to see what is in store for users in the spring.
