MSConfig Cleanup
I wish I could take credit for this but Bill Mullins found this excellent utility that helps clean up MSConfig. When troubleshooting your computer, we recently recommended using the Task Manager and Resource Monitor. MSConfig and your startup are also excellent places to look for malicious software, software using resources you don’t need and other software applications. Go check it out at Bill’s site.
Also take a look at our article on the Task Manager.

Backup Your Droid
Speed up Linux (debian) or Ubuntu
Want to speed up Ubuntu? Try these steps-
1. Use Preload – Preload is an adaptive readahead daemon that monitors applications and analyzing data and predicts what applications may run. To use Preload, open a terminal window and type – sudo apt -get install preload
2. Adjust Swappiness – Swappiness allows your computer to move things out of physical memory and down to the swap area of the physical drive.
Now edit the /etc/sysctl.conf file and enter the line – vm.swappiness=10
3. Try running boot processes in parallel – The /etc/ init.d/rc can be edited. Change concurrency=none to Concurrency =shell.
