Panda Cloud Antivirus Free
The curiosity I had on wanting to review this software is because of the type of internet connection I had. I have listed two other excellent bloggers in this post with their view points. Rick reviewed the software with a netbook and Bill did an excellent write up initially.
Bill Mullins and Rick have done some great research behind this product and you should go over and review their sites.
Panda Cloud Antivirus has gotten a lot of positive reviews lately. Panda currently has the internet (or cloud) antivirus in Beta format. This freeware version of this Beta product let’s you download their 18 mb file and sign up for keys that can later be used when the release comes.
A Quick Review
Panda’s Cloud Antivirus installs and searches for incompatible software. During my install, I was testing ClamWin and uninstalled it after being warned it was incompatible. The software is a front-end application with servers on the back-end. This creates an up-to-date application as long as there is an internet connection. (Detection is also available without the internet) The installation is an easy and fast install that is standard with all applications.
I applaud Panda for coming up with this solution. Remember it is in Beta format and improvements will be made. I installed the software flawlessly and am running the software across a Verizon Internet Card with no problems. The easy to use interface with a flip window makes it very easy to use and it appears to be using very little resources. I also downloaded the test viruses from eicar and Panda found them and deleted them. Thumbs up to Panda.
One other solution on the net is-
Prevx.com is another ‘Cloud Antivirus’ that is available. Prevx doesn’t store the signatures on your computer and is a thin-client based architecture. Prevx.com is currently $29.95 annually with a family license available. Prevx states it is faster than Panda and uses less resources.

In my tests, it has run great (so far) on Vista Home premium and Ultimate — won’t install on Win 7 beta.
Scantime is average, but the resources are “background” and low. Doesn’t slow down my other activities while running like AVG 8 does.

Couple days into our testing and I am finding the same results you are. (background resources lean)… May end up putting this on my main PC before it is over with.

I have been using Panda Cloud Antivirus on my Windows XP system and it seems to be working out pretty great. Unlike other antivirus applications, such as McAfee and E-Trust, Panda did not slow down my system. It kept running in good shape without any slowness. I had been having trouble with the other antivirus applications, but Panda seemed simply great.
My virus problems seem to be taken care pretty well. System was infected and some of them were sneaking out from other antivirus applications, but Panda did a great job. Great work done on Panda so far. I will be attempting an install on Windows 7 RC0. Let’s see how it goes.

Well, on Windows 7 RC0, the installation starts out smoothly and files are extracted in the temporary folder and then you are told that the OS is not supported…bad luck! Guess will have to run some other antivirus on Windows 7 till there is further update on the little Panda.
