Panda Tools to Remove Viruses and Malware – Free

leave a comment »

Panda recently released freeware antivirus for home users that worked through a virtual cloud platform. (Reviewed Here)

Now Panda has NanoScan that installs an ActiveX add-on that scans your computer on the internet.  This second layer of added protection helps keep you safe.  NanoScan

Panda Nano  Panda ActiveX  Panda Install   Panda Installing  Panda Scanned

Panda has also released a flashdrive / thumbdrive utility that turns off the autorun feature and helps protect these devices when plugged in.  Panda USB Vaccine is an excellent tool to use on your computer.  (This basically protects your computer from scanning through the contents of a drive – thus preventing an infected file on the USB from being activated.)

Hard Disk Space – What’s using it?

leave a comment »

Here’s one of the most detailed freeware scanning program that scans and analyizes your hard drive.  This software is very visual and very detailed. The software navigates very similar to a web browser.  As you click on each folder, it takes you deeper in the hard drive until you are at file level.  Excellent program.  Humans are visual creatures and this program gives you an idea of what is taking all of the space.   Link

Ginipic – Search the Internet for Pictures

leave a comment »

Ginipic searches the internet for pictures.  You can search for anything you like.  Ginipic requires .NET 3.5 (It downloads automatically if you don’t have it).   This 3.4 meg download installs easily and without error.  You can choose to let the interface float or dock.  Once docked, you can search all private and public sources for the pic you want.  Once highlighted, you can click on the pic and the picture information along with the url is listed.

UPDATE:  After I posted this, I noticed that Rick over at WhatOnMyPC had this also.  Kudos for mentioning the school! Thank You.
