Say Goodbye to Your Computer’s RAM

From TechChee:

Memristor is a new elusive fourth element in electronic circuitry, different from the existing Random Access Memories used in gadgets and computer. It consumes extremely low or zero power. Meaning it’ll drastically change the way our computers use power on storage of data.

Using memristor in computers or gadgets, data can be stored even when power is turned off or with very low power supplied to it. Since memristor is claimed to be able to replace RAM, it also means memristor will give the kind of high speed data access that RAM provides. And most probably memristor can be used both as the permanent storage and also works as RAM, which means there isn’t a need for a separate memory module. (HP is the researcher).

It works by cold fusion, too.

OK, if it really works, what security do I buy to get in on the ground floor.

In which decade of the century?

you’re right…I said the same thing when they told us about 1 Gb harddrives. The technology seemed so far away and within those 10 years it came to be and I bought my $900 - 1 Gb harddrive. I thought it would be a million years away.

As far as security, the files or data would be sitting right their in ‘memory’ (more problems) but I also remember when the net was absolutely “safe” to surf. No antivirus, antispyware needed….

wow, it looks like _really_ interesting. but which motherboard will support this, and which OS will support this?

All in the future….remember, the future is tomorrow. No support yet. The Keyword is YET….lol
